dadadadadadadadadada

if you're relatively liberal in the way you define "word," gg has been saying one word nonstop for a few days now: dada. yes, you could argue that she has no idea what dada means and yes you could argue that she's just just playing around with her vocal chords like all kids do, but some of us here at filbert are happy to think that she had such a great time at her dad's birthday brunch in montreal that she simply can't stop talking about her dear old dadadadadadadadada. thanks to auntie siobhan for supplying the great photos we're posting today.

on the steps of grandmummy's house

just back from a visit to gg's great grandmother, who was celebrating her 97th birthday. though she had a cold and was teething, gg was in great spirits around her great grandmother, and her second cousins, mateo and william.

we think she's got two more teeth coming in up top (gg, that is) and maybe two more on the bottom as well, to join the two that are already there. big development this week: gg learned to pick up her giant eyeball.

early immersion

gg hit the water for the first time last week, the very day of her (you can handle bacteria now, kid) six month anniversary. the momentous event -- delayed slightly by her parents who, oops, forgot to bring any of her worldly possessions, including swim suit -- occurred at the presidio ymca kiddy pool. her first swim was probably more exciting for her parents than it was for gg. she seemed interested, but not necessarily happy about the whole thing.

the pool visit was followed by a sunday brunch at her friend carolyn wong's and then a brief visit to the hospital where she was born. there, a sleeping gg was reunited with her birth nurse, gerald.
