(0) comments Quitting today. Which, as it happens, is also the first day I saw pictures of Simone GGM. She's definitely worth sticking around for. (0) comments Thursday, July 12, 2007

For real. I quit smoking after returning from the last Seattle trip -- the . It's been a couple of weeks now, and I'm not especially happy about it. But I've done it, damnit, for real. (2) comments Sunday, August 14, 2005

Yup, you fixed it all right. How'd you get to be such a good plumber? And lest anyone is in doubt, I'm doing my best to quit with MM. Today is Day One, all over again...let's be strong! (6) comments ... and I'm a horrible, horrible quitter. Had guests in for the weekend, and yes, I smoked. Dammit. Take Two. (0) comments (0) comments The pipes have burst on my blog. Literally. Whenever I try to publish I get this error message: 001 Broken pipe A help search turns up: Broken Pipe It's definitely a persistent problem. Guess I better call a plumber.... (0) comments (0) comments Hmm...looks like I've been away so long my icon done went and cracked...well, guess ya got to guess who this is then.... (0) comments I think I have to quit blogging (it's only an extended break I've been on since May). Tried to blog on Friday and Blogger didn't take it. Doesn't seem to work today either. I guess what they say about losing it if you're not using is true... (0) comments Wednesday, August 03, 2005
Remeber the rule MM: indulge indulge indulge! Eat and drink whatever you want until you don't want to light up again. Those extra pounds will fall off... sort of... At least they'll stop piling on at some point. And you won't mind because you don't smoke any more. Or something. This was meant to be encouraging but it's coming out all wrong. Well done nevertheless - keep it up! We're all behind you. (0) comments holyshit is right, wow. And yes, this was the promise I made myself: smoke until the defense. It's 3am and I've been craving for hours (as I've been absorbed in reading John Fowles' The Magus -- you read it?). Seriously bad over here right now. I just ate about a pound of cheese, with crackers and mustard, and then some cookies. And that's got to stop. (0) comments Tuesday, August 02, 2005
Yay, MM! So you got that dissertation out of the way and decided to find another painful, long-term project to dog you, eh? Well, I'm 100% confident that you will succeed in this one, too. Here's a stat to encourage you: Your Quit Date is: Wednesday, January 01, 2003 at 10:00:00 PM Time Smoke-Free: 942 days, 4 hours, 57 minutes and 51 seconds Cigarettes NOT smoked: 18844 Lifetime Saved: 4 months, 23 days, 22 hours Money Saved: $4,715.00 The lifetime & money saved ain't that dramatic, but Holy SHIT -- when I imagine that nearly 20,000(!) smokes all butted out in ashtrays ... I'm glad I don't have to clean it up. (0) comments Monday, August 01, 2005

Hi everybody -- is anyone out there? Is anyone quitting anything these days? I've lapsed terribly from my former days as a quitter, and as of right this very second I'm trying it again. So there. I guess I have to get all new stats on that quitters-program, right. drag. Anyway, it sucks. I have jetlag, my shoulders are sore, can't sleep, and I really really really want a cigarette.
